                       Lerner Park Spring Work Day

Spring preparations were completed for Lerner Park in fine style on Saturday, June 14, 2025. Rotarians and community members gathered to prune, trim trails, spread mulch, organize the storage shed, and repair a walking bridge.

Much was accomplished by a few strong hands, focusing on improvements that will encourage and help the community walk the trails and see the natural beauty of flora and fauna.

The June spring cleanup follows the spring prairie burn and the Oregon Middle School 8th Grade Field Day in May. Efforts are underway to install new trail signage and informational displays. Summer is a beautiful time to enjoy the beauty of Lerner Park. We hope to see you out enjoying this local gem.

Mike Brown repaired the walking bridge over the main drainage channel and cleaned out and reorganized the storage shed.
Ron Morken directed trimming hangover branches on trails, and helped clean out and reorganize the storage shed.
Oregon Rotary is planning for the installation of new trail, directional, and informational signage in Lerner Park.

Presidents Message

For all those who are reading this newsletter, welcome and thank you for keeping up with what Rotary is doing in Oregon…and wow, there is a lot to keep up with!  The Rotary Club of Oregon has had a very active year.  Our Rotary year is July 1- June 30th, so we are just wrapping up an exciting term of service.  For those who are new to what Oregon Rotary does, we focus primarily on two very important aspects of service: youth development and environmental stewardship.

Last fall, we had another successful poinsettia sale and community-wide electronic recycling event. Swinging into the new year, our second annual Taste of Oregon was a smashing success in bringing the community together to raise funds for Oregon youth. We are well into our third decade caring for and improving Lerner Park as a nature conservancy and educational opportunity for all. Our May 23rd field day for Oregon Middle School 8th graders was a blast. The kids worked hard and garnered valuable experience in the importance of environmental stewardship. We look forward eagerly to another year of community service in Oregon. Volunteerism is the lifeblood of our communities. Please join us as we continue in that legacy of giving back.
