Rotary Club of Oregon

September 20, 2021

Welcome to the inaugural issue of our monthly bulletin! Find out who our upcoming speakers are, what we covered during the last monthly meeting, and learn more about our Member of the Month.
Upcoming Meeting Speakers
  • Our guest speaker for the September 21st 12:00pm meeting is Randy Glysch.  Randy is the Village of Oregon President and he will be talking to us about the Village.
  • On October 5th at 7:00am, our newest Rotary member Bill Rockwell will be giving his classification talk.  In addition at this meeting, Justin Johnson will be sharing about his recent trip out west and will give us an update on two recent scholarship recipients.
Sad News: Al Brown's Passing
Oregon Rotary lost prominent member of the community recently.  Al made many contributions to Rotary over the years and was a friend to many Rotarians.  Al will be sorely missed by many.  Please keep his family in your thoughts and prayers.  A memmorial will be held at a later date.
Volunteer Needs and Upcoming Projects
Yes this means we need you to honestly consider and step up!
  • Highway Pickup: This is an event that is consistently under-volunteered. Many hands make light work.  We don't have a specific date yet, but the next highway pickup will be sometime in late September and early October. When the email request for volunteers comes out, please mark your calendar!
  • Rotary's volunteer day for the Oregon Food Pantry is Wednesday September 29th from 8am-10am.

Start thinking about Poinsettias!
Oregon Rotary needs to sell more poinsettias than ever this year!  Please start thinking about who might buy some for their church, family, friends, places of work or other groups!  More details will come regarding ordering, paying for, and picking up the poinsettias.
New Member Welcome
On August 17th two new members were welcomed to Oregon Rotary.  Please welcome Jennifer Pakenkopf (Chief of Oregon Police) and Dan Breunig.  We are excited to have your energy, gifts and passions join our great club.
Visioning Process Update
August 3rd we concluded our month-long visioning process. It was a great conclusion and gives us a great start as we look out over the new year and beyond for Rotary.

We established four immediate goals:
  1. Membership
  2. Service Projects
  3. Meetings
  4. Communication
We are now working to develop teams around these four goals. If you would like to be on any of these teams please let Jim McCoid know by emailing jmccoid@communityoflife.us.

Our Oregon Rotary has a wonderful legacy, and great current members. Now it is time to refocus our energy to serve and build up Oregon in this new season of Rotary!
Arlan Kay - Member of the (next) Month
Does anyone know this guy? ...Hint, he loves architecture and will be sharing more about his Rotary experiences October 19th at noon at our Rotary meeting.
